With the popularity of mobile smart equipment and the rapid development ofmobile Internet, App Stores are popular all over the world. All these indicate that theage of melee through apps is coming. As more and more homogeneous apps release inthe App Store, users become extremely anxious. Mobile smart equipment turns to thenew supporter of mobile language education with its portability. Simultaneously,language learning apps are also facing the problem of apps homogenization and thelaw coincidence degree between apps and users awareness.This dissertation focuses on the point that the research of cognitive featuresplays an important role in the design of language learning apps, which is a blankspace in the design research of apps. By summarizing some conclusions of thecognitive features and design methods from researches and design projects, ittentatively brings up some ideas and methods about the design of language learningapps based on cognitive features. In order to guide the design of language learningapps, which is the starting point of this dissertation, it builds a design pattern withthese ideas and methods.The research, taking the cognitive features in the design of language learningapps as the main line, analyses the cognitive features of human firstly. To draw out aconcept of―the cognitive design of language learning apps‖, this paper exploringlyanalyses in language education and design of apps, on the basis of the researchcognitive features. Meanwhile, combining with the experience of language learningapps design process, it puts forward a design pattern for language learning apps,which is the creative output of this paper. In the following design practices, thispattern is adopted in the AITalk project. Users cognitive features are considered allthe time during the project design, such as user location, user research, app location,core function’s definitions and prototypes design, interaction design, visual designand so on. The final design is completed promptly with a great success in proving thevalidity and the credibility of my conclusion.
