Compared to conventional one, Automated Storage/Retrieval System (AS/RS) has faster response speed and higher reliability, while improve the space utilization and solve the problem of limited land at the same time. The storage efficiency is improved by adjusting the traveling crane task scheduling reasonably. The performance of the aluminum warehouse management system is analyzed and designed in this paper, with respect to the actual development needs of AS/RS in Nanping Aluminum Plant.According to the characteristics and requirement of AS/RS, the whole layout, network and part of function of the warehouse is introduced. The traveling crane is the major storage/retrieval vehicle of automatic warehouse in charge of the in or out storehouse operation. Siemens PLC and the laser location mode are adopted in this system to guarantee the flexibility, stability and the precision of location of the system.The traveling crane task scheduling has close relationship with the operating efficiency of the system. To improve the efficiency of in/out warehouse, the traveling crane operation has to be optimized to achieve reasonable in/out path. The in/out warehouse dispatch of traveling crane based on improved particle swarm algorithm is researched mainly in this paper.The computer management system is the center of the whole automatic warehouse while database is effective method to manage mass of shared data in multitasking system. The top-down design is used in this paper dividing the entire system into5functional modules. The function of every module is introduced and Access is used in this paper to design the system database in detail. Labview is applied to simulate the5module and the function of the AS/RS model is realized.
