The Magnetic Levitation Control System is the platform of magnetic levitation technology studies and of control theory researchs, due to the characteristics of essential nonlinear and open loop instability. The magnetic levitation ball system is a complex integrated system including control theory, electromagnetics, computer science and other fields related. Because the magnetic levitation system’s real time demand is rigorous, it is difficult to obtain good control effect using a classic control method in such a complex control system. Therefore, to devise a practical method of control on a tight rein is essential. This paper reseachs the magnetic levitation control system based on the two-freedom-degree magnetic levitation system and develops the control experimental system based on Matlab.Firstly, this paper introduces the overview of research and development of magnetic levitation technology. Then, the component and the basic principle of the magnetic ball levitation control system is introduced. This paper also introduces the physical model of the Magnetic Levitation System and the structure of the RBF-ARX model, the parameter identification principles and the basic principles of control in details. In addition, this paper deal with the global dynamic input-output data acquired through a PID controller. On the other hand, the RBF-ARX model of the Magnetic Levitation Control System is obtained using that data. Further more, we design a predictive controller and studies it’s simulation results. Finally, the real-time control is realized by a predictive controller.Although this paper only reseachs the magnetic levitation control system based on the two-freedom-degree magnetic levitation system,the predictive controller which is based on the RBF-ARX model achieved good control effect in real-time control.Therefore, Multi-freedom-degree magnetic levitation ball control system can learn from the research results achieved by it, and can be extended to general industrial process control. So it’s important to do research and design controller on the magnetic levitation system.
