| School buses are important transport resources to a school, especially to amulti-campus school. In order to facilitate teachers’ and students’ living and travelling,school bus service is provided among each campus. There is a special managementsystem to school buses, which not only means management to ordinary vehicles, butalso needs to implement its management within campuses. At present, most ofmanagement to school buses is simplified since it is operated manually, which leads tosome problems, such as simplification of the school bus route, difficulties in resolvingaccidents timely, non-timeliness in updating running time and docking sites, andhardness in inquiring in vehicle management information.The school bus management system developed in this paper tries to resolvepractical problems in school bus running within multi-campus school. The system hasused proven technique today. Considering scalability of the system in future, the paperprovides a safty scheduling system that implements an intelligent management to schoolbuses and provides safe and convenient vehicles management services to school buses,and improves the effective utilization of vehicles and road resources.The system adopts GRPS network transmission technology, GPS positioningtechnology, the J2EE platform, GIS technology, the M2M protocols and VRP algorithmtechnology. It can track several school buses’ on-board GPS terminals at the same timeand record the operation of the school buses, compile statistics of passengers duringdifferent period, analyze data to get an optimal scheduling of driving route for schoolbuses, and develop the most optimized time table by combining the amount of schoolbuses and drivers.The development to school bus management system is made in several parts,design in on-board GPS terminal, and optimization to routes, arrangement to school busand drivers, and school bus management system. The system is a distributed networksystems, which is composed of three subsystems, such as on-board GPS terminal,Internet central server, and GIS monitoring workstation.The on-board GPS terminal consists of four parts, the power supply, MSP430 Single-chip microcomputer, GPS module and GPRS module,The MSP430Single-chipmicrocomputer is the core of the system that is pin-connected with GPS module andGPRS module through the RX, TX. Power supply provides a stable power supply for allmodules and chips.The center management platform of school bus management system is comprisedof six functional modules, such as driver’s information management, vehicleinformation management, vehicle scheduling management, system management,geographic information systems, and statistics. It implements annual management, fuelmanagement, maintenance, insurance management, accident management, managementto drivers, management to schedule, docking sites and routes; and all these functionsrealize management to basic information of school buses, supervision to the safetyof school buses and drivers, vehicle scheduling and route optimization. |
