Smart Home System is a system which could control and manage smarthousehold appliances by computer or PDA. following the development of the scienceand technology, home appliances becoming more intelligent, it has brought greatconvenience to people’s lives. At the same time, many of the intelligent homeappliances also support the connection and communications with other devices. In thiscontext, a wise, powerful and flexible system which can help us managing ourappliances is introduced by this thesis. The smart home system could monitor somechangers happened home and make judgment automatically, and complete certain taskby controlling some intelligent appliances.Another characteristic of this system is to improve the security standards of thehome environment with many sensitive sensor and a smart home system,so we can beaware of the dangerous happened or to be happened. it make our home safe from harm.People could have a remote viewing or controlling the home appliances to finish sometask with the support of the smart home system. it is not necessary to do something youhave to do home. you can start it at anywhere and it has been finished when you arrivehome. it reduces time expenses and lightens our burden.Firstly, this thesis analyzed some problems to be solved according with the actualneeds. and describes the structure of the system. including hardware and software. thissystem has two levels,level1is designed to manager all sensors and appliances. andlevel2is responsible for handling user requests and provide services to users. thisstructure makes the system clearer and easier and make it useful and reliable.Thesystem also introduces a video surveillance system for monitoring home if someonebroke into. The system uses Gaussian background modeling method to split theforeground and background. with calculating the difference among three foreground, itcould determine whether someone broke into. it also provides a guarantee for theprotection of family property.The system provide may interfaces to extend its functions.it allow user add new node into the system.The system take some mathematical methods to produce problems, it can make more intelligent judgment and make it canbe used easily.
