With the development of science and technology, the traditional medical system can not meet the extension of medical information’s needs. With the expansion of the scale of the hospital, and the increase of the professional, the traditional manual hospital information management system has become a stumbling block to the development of our medical system. The hospital information system, we can also call it HIS. Its occurrence is a sign that China’s medical industry is stepping into a new area, It is the formation of China’s modern hospital information system. The occurrence of HIS has solved many problems of the traditional medical system, for example, inefficient, cumbersome and resource waste. As the function of HIS is becoming more and more complex and diverse, today’s health care system is facing a new problem-HIS data storage. Using cloud computing technology, we can make fast computation and storage of huge data come true. And we can also meet the hospital information system’s data storage requirement of security, efficiency and real-time. So, the application of cloud computing technology in HIS is bound to become a future development goal of hospital information system.In this thesis, we described the overall design of the hospital information system based on cloud computing technology and the realization of each module in this system. For example, I have used VMware software to build a virtual server cluster and used Hadoop to build a distributed file storage system, built the hospital information system. In this system, I have used some kind of technology like JSP, Struts, Hibernate, distributed file storage and virtualization. In this thesis, solutions based on cloud computing technology have been given to solve the problems we meet about data storage as HIS developed. And the design have been further improved, the design and implementation of the entire system has been completed.Through the design of the proposed system, I finished the HIS storage server’s virtualization and data resources distributed storage. The storage server virtualization can solve problems like dynamic migration, load balancing, dynamic backup and storage waste. Using Hadoop can improve the computational efficiency of the data, reduce the storage costs of HIS and improve the safety and convenience of data resources storage, greatly.The design and implementation of this system proved that using cloud computing technology in HIS is necessary, reasonable and useful. Cloud computing technology is gradually becoming a core technology of computer system, cloud computing technology marks that computer system is developing into networking and globalization direction. Using cloud computing technology in HIS will give a strong impetus to China’s high-tech development and progress of China’s medical industry.
