The Internet of Things (IOT) which is considered to be the third information technologyrevolution after the computer, Internet and mobile communication network, has become thecommanding heights of the information industry in the new round of competition. In essence,IOT is an extension of Internet on perception layer, and application of communication andcontrol of objects. Therefore, the perception layer is an important part to reflect thecharacteristics of IOT. Due to the massive increase of IOT terminals, the addressing issues ofIOT terminals have become a hot spot. IPv6can solve the global addressing issues of massiveterminals, which makes IOT have a close contact with IPv6. This paper made a deep researchon perception layer of IOT accessing based on IPv6.The paper proposed the IOT access gateway solution based on IPv6, and with theprinciple of low-cost and low-power, this paper had the selection and design of each moduleof the gateway hardware, including the MCU circuit, network interface card chip, ZigBeehardware, TFT touch screen circuit and external storage unit circuit. Based on the limitedhardware resources and processing capabilities of the gateway, the paper made a cut design onTCP/IPv6protocol stack, and implemented it on low-cost hardware STM32F103VBT6embedded processor.Due to the features of low-power and low-cost of ZigBee protocol, this paper used meshnetwork topology based on ZigBee2007protocol specification for the realization ofcoordinator, routers and terminal equipment of the ZigBee wireless sensor network.For the sensor nodes can be directly addressed by extranet users, this paper proposed amethod of the virtualization on ZigBee sensor nodes short addresses to IPv6addresses, andmade each ZigBee sensor node have a unique virtual IPv6address. On this basis, the paperdesigned the communication protocols between IPv6and ZigBee networks, and through theimprovements of related functions of the ICMPv6protocol on the IPv6protocol networklayer, the paper realized the functions such as the forwarding of ICMPv6request packets andthe echo of response packets. The paper realized the communication of IPv6external networkdevices and ZigBee sensor nodes by using UDP communication, which reflected the featureof low-power. Through the test of the system, the results show that the Internet of Things accessgateway can be successfully achieved the direct addressing and data transmission using thevirtual IPv6addresses of ZigBee sensor nodes by IPv6equipment of the external network.
