The creation of3D model is an important part of CAD, but designing a new3D model fromscratch remains a difficult task.In this paper, we follow the idea of “modeling by example”, implement a3D modeling systembased on assembly of components. Users only need to sketch out the two-dimensional sketchof the desired model, the system will automatically retrieve the corresponding3D parts fromthe model database, and will reorganize model after a reasonable deformation. The systemprovides an user-friendly UI and just needs some simple operations, is suitable forprofessional as well as ordinary users. In the search of3D parts, the system will not only take into account the user’s sketch, but alsotake into account the contextual information, including the style consistency and textureconsistency between the model adjacent components. This retrieval mechanism during themodeling process, gives a reasonable proposal to the users. More the user input and moreparts are fixed, the system will give more reasonable suggestion, and help users quickly getthe final design results.
