With the rapid development and popularization of computer and information technology, forestry administrations have widely used forest resources information management softwares to manage and update forest resources data. However, due to the spatial and temporal characteristics of the forest resource data, most of the management systems can not effectively solve the problem of forest resource data management update. According to the departments of forestry management that put forward to the new demands of time and space management, query and analysis functions of the forest resource information(this paper deals only with the vector data) in the new era, this paper establishes the forest resources spatial-temporal database based on object-relational data model, and will eventually apply the application to Tibet Chamdo Forest Resource Management Information System. The paper takes small class surface data as an example, achieves the functions of temporal and spatial query analysis and history back surface data of forest resources in small classes, greatly solves the defects of the spatial-temporal data management which can not be achieved in the traditional forest resource management system.To solve the problems of updating forest resource management, it was necessary to solve problems of the organization and management of the spatial-temporal data of forest resources. To achieve the new demands of the forestry administrative department on the spatial-temporal data management of forest resources update, the key is to establish the spatial-temporal database of forest resources. Therefore, we proceed from the following key technology to the research and analysis of this article:(1) analysis of spatial and temporal characteristics of the basic data for forest resource management;(2) analysis of existing temporal data model, designing temporal data model for small class surface described by the temporal characteristics of forest resources;(3) what database management system should be based on to establish the spatial-temporal database of forest resources;(4)realization of the temporal and spatial query, analysis and history of back functions of forest resources, and the selection the platform to build the Forest Resources Information Management System. Finally, according to the lack of Traditional Forest Resources Data Management update technology and special demand of the technology and the spatial and temporal characteristics of forest resource data, this article completed:(1) Use object-relational multi-base state with amendments extended spatial-temporal data model to complete the organization of forest resources in small classes of spatial-temporal data;(2) based on the object-relational database model, abstract the small classes face to "face" object entity, and store it in a spatial database geodatabase using ArcSDE as the spatial database engine, then store the small class surface object as the form of a binary large object to the relational database SQL server as a whole, enventually establish the spatial and temporal database of forest resources;(3) Using the technology of ArcGIS Engine+C#GIS component development, achieve the new functions and demands of the temporal and spatial data queries and historical data back in the management of forest resources data updating and verifiy of the effectiveness of the spatial-temporal database of forest resources based on the object-relational database.
