Virtual plant is a technology that makes use of visualization technology to imitate the growth of plant and then intelligently display this simulation process, both of which are realized on the computer. Leaves and fruits, as typical organs of plants, are important original information for building images of plant organs and graphics library, which is of great significance to studies on virtual plant. Very few have ever touched on modeling of plant organs home and abroad; virtual modeling of plant fruits is still in primary stage. Image contour extraction and simulation modeling techniques of fruit shape play an important role in the simulation studies of plant fruits, which exert a direct effect on the visual effects of plant modeling. The present study deals with the realization of fruit simulation visualization, centering on the image extraction of plant fruits, simulation modeling of plant leaves and fruits and fruit surface reconstruction. The main work of this paper includes the following aspects:1. Taking citrus as an example, we, based on the characteristics of citrus fruit images and citrus graphic, design and realize the segmentation of citrus fruit image and contour extraction of the image edge in this thesis, which obtains encouraging results in terms of getting fruit contour.2. We introduce the modeling method of virtual plant leaves based on Bezier curve; besides, we build the parameter equation of leaf contour curve by Bezier curve and then calculate the3d form of leaves.3. We introduce the modeling method of virtual plant fruits based on Bezier curve; the constructed3d structure of fruits is applicable to modeling of citrus, pears, apples and so on; in addition, we put forward the reconstruction method related to MAPL system in the light of L-system and relevant principles in Fractal Theory; at last, it is revealed by experiments that this method can well-embody the concavity of fruit surface.
