With the increasing of high data rate communication, the higher frequency, broadband and wireless have become into the information industry’s hot research. ROF technique occupied a special position in the communication technology because it incorporated both feature of optical and high frequency radio wave transmission, and it could realize the long-haul transmission of high capacity and low cost radio-frequency signal. Extending the carrier frequency into millimeter-wave band could achieve higher data rate. As one of the key technologies of4G mobile communication systems, OFDM was a multi-carrier modulated technology and could improve the spectral efficiency of wireless communication greatly and overcome the inter-symbol interference. Therefore, the use of millimeter-wave as a carrier carrying OFDM in ROF system was the focus of this study.The work and the contributions were outlined as follows.(1).The key technology of OFDM has been studied, including coding, IFFT and cyclic prefix, with emphasis on the theory of OFDM to achieve a specific and detailed the whole process of research.(2).Introduced the concept of ROF technology, technical characteristics and network architecture. Optical transmission of baseband, IF and RF fiber-optic transmission optical fiber transmission were compared the three systems.(3).The use of Optisystem optical communication system simulation software simulation of OFDM signals, built a60GHz millimeter-wave OFDM-ROF system simulation platform, from the bit error rate, constellation, and other aspects of the OFDM signal transmission by the ROF system after the performance, and proposed a system optimization.(4).The wavelength interleaving DWDM-OFDM-ROF system architecture was designed. In this system, we only used an AWG to achieve a wavelength interleaving through Optisystem simulation of the system’s feasibility.According to the research of capacity, we can conclude OFDM-ROF and wavelength interleaving DWDM-OFDM-ROF systems can effectively improve the spectrum efficiency, improve system capacity, and the future development of high-frequency resources will become one of the most important way in the future.
