As the development of Chinese city accelerate quickly and the ownership of the citizen fort the private cars increases quickly,traffic congestion is becoming a serious problem while the demand of people for quick and convenient traveling becoming higher.In nowadays environment of green protecting environment,low carbon and energy saving,intelligent traffic meet the need of the times.As an important field of intelligent traffic--the extraction and recognition of traffic signs,is becoming intelligent,informational,real time and more accurate.In the extraction and recognition of traffic signs of this article,focuses on the practicability and the real time of the system,thus the demand of the speed and accuracy becomes higher.This article uses the algorithm of crude extraction and segmentation for the extraction of the traffic signs. Rough extraction chooses the HSV color space,in the gray space of saturation uses the s adaptive threshold extraction, then segments the color roughly. While the segmentation is for the situation of the noise and the target objects combines into a connected region.Selecting the appropriate seed in the foreground,floodfill on the seed,realize the segmentation of the noise and target object.On the recognition of the traffic sign,this article chooses the shape recognition on the Radon transform for the boundary of the foreground and the texture recognition of express the surface roughness of the object. As the boundary of the the foreground express the shape of foreground very well and reduce the calculation largely,choosing Radon transform on the boundary of the foreground can recognition the foreground well. While the boundary of the foreground is getting form the algorithm of contour tracing. On the recognition of texture, choosing the algorithm of difference is simpler and faster.In the programming of this paper chooses the MATLAB as the foundation,uses the C language for programming the important functions such as floodfill and contour tracing,then gets the function document through the API of the MATLAB,this mixed programming plays the advantages of the two languages.
