High dynamic range image (HDRI) composition technology has been widely used recent years in large areas, such as industry image processing, digital entertainment, machine vision. Due to the constraint of image acquisition device itself, almost every image sensor has a low dynamic range than real scene, so that causes the dynamic range deterioration of acquisited image. As an image enhance technology, HDRI has an overwhelming advantage in global illumination. For example, in light-emitting diode (LED) auto optical inspection (AOI) process, electrode region has a high reflectivity while emitting region has a low reflectivity, so that HDRI is essential in getting clear details of bother electrode region and emitting region.There are two main kinds of HDRI acquisition methods in the past:hardware method and software method. Hardware method has a better result but needs lots of human and financial resource, so it only suits for some special situation. By contrast, software method is easy to achieve and only needs less resource. So normally software method is more widely used.This paper presented a HDRI composition algorithm in HSV color mode which suits for LED wafer AOI detection and tested its feasibility, based on the analysis of global cutting-edge researches. This paper mainly analyzed some HDRI algorithm with milestone significance and then proposed a new algorithm best fit for our AOI process.
