Precision and ulta-precision machining has become the key to success in international competition. Machining is moving in the direction of the high-precision, high-speed, high productivity cutting. Also made considerable demands on a variety of properties of the tool. The superior performance of a variety of cutting superhard cutting tool research and development is an inevitable trend. Diamond has the highest hardness, wear resistance, the specificity of the brittle, corrosion and excellent physical, chemical, and mechanical properties. Therefore, ultra-precision cutting of the diamond tool is an important part of the ultra-precision machining technology.Visual image detection technique based on image processing techniques have recently been rapid development. Not only can greatly improve production efficiency and the degree of automation, Machine Vision is easy to implement information integration, to meet the requirements of the digital automated productionThis topic for the detection of the diamond surface quality defect characteristics of the elastic floating polishing process, design and development of a detection system based on image recognition. In this paper the research work are the following aspects:First, research background and significance of this topic through the literature review. Discusses the domestic and international situation and development trend. Overview of the image detecition system, image feature extraction and curve fitting algorithm research status, the dianmond analysis of detection techniques are discussed. Instance of domestic and international research, analyzed the trend of the image detection technologySecond, the design of the overall structure of the program and key hardware components. Include CCD camera and laser scanning confocal microscope OLS40000XJZ-6A metallurgical microscope, SCC-101P, Aver Media card V1A3-C. At the same time, design of capture software Aver EZCapture, VC++and C, MATLABThird, analysis common several important pre-processing methods. The ranks of the design and the contrast method based on the pretreatment method.
