In recent years, with the rapid development of wireless communications, the wireless mobile communication system in the future will be the era of coexistence from a variety of wireless access technologies. These wireless access technologies have their own characteristics and advantages in network coverage, system capacity and so on. The major challenges operators are facing in the future wireless network is how to use these wireless access technologies to effectively and reasonably allocate wireless network resources. The purpose is to make the network not only provide users with a variety of multimedia services, but also ensure the service quality of users and improve the utilization of spectrum resources. Therefore, in this thesis, we do a deep research on the joint radio resource management in heterogeneous wireless network, including joint call admission control and under the interference condition of joint rate and power control using game theory.Firstly, a joint call admission control algorithm based on bandwidth thresholds is proposed in heterogeneous wireless networks of GSM-R and MBWA interconnection. The algorithm selected three typical business of voice, data and video. Priorities and reserved bandwidth resources for handoff call are set according to different types of users and services. Then the appropriate access network is selected according to the demand of characteristics of different services. By modeling a multi-dimensional Markov chain, the New Call Blocking Probability and Handoff Call Dropping Probability can be derived and it will be stimulated as well. The stimulating results show that when satisfying the QoS requirements of different services, the proposed algorithm can not only effectively reduce new call blocking probability and handoff call dropping probability, but also improve the overall performance of the system.Secondly, this thesis also study how to use game theory to analyze the problems of users’ power and rate allocation under the interference condition. It designs a new cost function according to the fairness of users’ rate allocation and the different interference users making to the primary users. Through mathematical modeling which based on the cost function, an achievable NPRGP algorithm is given. The algorithm considers not only the stringent power control to the user, but also reasonable rate allocation of the user. Through rigorous mathematical justification, the existence and uniqueness of the Nash equilibrium of game theory are proved. Finally, simulation results validated about the algorithm’s performance. Simulation results show that compared to the traditional non-cooperative game of power control, the proposed algorithm can transmit more bits with less power. And with the loss of a small amount of earnings, the users’ rate allocation has been greatly improved.
