With China’s rapid economic development in recent years, China’ transportation infrastructure is also rapid development, especially the level of mechanization of tunneling in the construction of highways, railways, new requirements and tests. Especially in the soft surrounding rock of tunnel construction, which support is a key step in an installation of steel arch support, installation in the domestic steel arch tunnel construction by hand or with other devices to install, not only the labor intensity, and efficiency and safety cannot guarantee. In order to achieve high efficiency of mechanized construction, the urgent need to design and manufacture of steel arch to install the robot.Understanding and analysis of steel arch in the tunnel construction to installation and construction process, the steel arch design requirements to install the robot, the steel arch of the soft rock tunnel construction is the use of segmented air docking installation, the steel arch to install the robber to do the overall planning and design. The steel arch to install the robot mainly by the steel arch clamping mechanism, the composition of the arm telescoping, universal hydraulic crawler sites, and electro-hydraulic control system. The steel arch telescopic arm and the clamping mechanism is a mechanical hand device, mainly by the size of the telescopic boom adjustment cylinder holding mechanism and other components.In this paper, the size of the telescopic arm and do the design of the structure and working principle of the clamping mechanism. Steel arch to install the robot’s mechanical arm and the clamping mechanism have a significant impact on their performance in the construction used in the design of virtual technology in the model in Solid works, and imported into the key components in the simulation software Adams kinematic and dynamic analysis, comes to the work of the robot when the scope of work and features, as well as key components of the forces in the course of the campaign.
