Since the middle of 1990s, non-photorealistic rendering of computer graphics is one ofthe most active research’s topic, it is not like realistic graphics that pursue just like apicture’s reality, but hope that it can highlight the image to express information throughignore some of the unimportant details, or to generate the image with artistic effect.Researchers have used the computer to achieve a number of art forms rendering, such as ink,watercolors, pencil drawing, oil, etc. Non-photorealistic rendering of pencil draw hasbecome an important research field, has attracted more and more researchers to take up withthe generation of pencil work, which is the main motivation and research cruces.According to the difference of rendering commencement, non-photorealistic renderingtechniques can be divided into two-dimensional rendering image basing image space andthree-dimensional rendering image basing object space. In this paper, the research is todraw two-dimensional image based on image.The main work of this paper include: status of non-photorealistic renderingtechnology’s development, in particular, a detailed study of the development status ofnon-photorealistic rendering of pencil drawing. Several image processing methods used inpencil rendering algorithm, including the representation of the image, edge detection, etc.Research on line integral convolution technique, including the principles, advantages anddisadvantages as well as the improved line integral convolution algorithm. Improve theexisting pencil drawing generation algorithm and proposed a color pencil drawingalgorithm by combining the layering based on the image brightness and fast line integralconvolution algorithm.The innovation of this paper is: we use a fast Kirsch edge detection method to extractthe contour information of the image. This method do not need color scaling, color isconsistent with the tone of the pencil, and its contour information is very continuous andsmooth. This article uses the line integral convolution technology for pencil drawing, andproposed a method of color pencil drawing based on layering according to the brightnessinformation.
