Insulin can efficiently reduce glycemia in the human’s body, preventing from diabetes’ pathological changes. Therefore, insulin is widely used today in clinical medicine. Medical insulin is highly purified which can be obtain by using bio-engineering technique. Its amino acids in the order and the biological activity are identical with human body itself. Besides, the use of insulin preparations supplies a convenient way to modulate glycemia of the diabetes patients as requirement.This article is written based on a pharmaceutical factory insulin production line, putting emphasis on analyzing of the process flow of insulin production and the configuration of the corresponding automation control system. In this article, system plan, hardware allocation, software configuration and programming, and field-bus communication will be discussed based on siemens PLC control system.Insulin production line automation control system takes Siemens S7-300PLC as hardware platform, while WinCC7.0software as SCADA; It takes2layer network architecture, Profibus-DP and Ethernet, embedding a certain number of field-bus instruments. Its production line control program and graphical human machine interface are developed by fully analyzing the user requirement specification to consist the automation control system with excellent control function, high reliability and open-wide characteristic.The insulin production line automation control system discussed in the article is already involved in production from2011year. Up to now, it keeps insulin production line continuing running well with advanced function, good stability and friendly human machine interface.
