Global data growth rapidly as flood, mass data era is coming. With the amount of user increased and business development, the number of enterprise image growth in the exponential such as Facebook, Taobao Mall and other social networking or online internet business. So how to effectively manage these huge amounts of data becomes a daunting challenge. Traditional storage architectures are poor scalability. When the number of users increased or system performance demand overly, just blindly add high-end storage devices. Complex enterprise storage architecture is difficult to meet the growing data management needs.This paper’s background is personal and commercial image data rapidly grow, it introduces domestic and foreign enterprises are facing massive data storage challenges. On this basis, we design and implementation of a massive image storage system based on cloud computing technologies. This system has a number of key issues, such as:high scalability and reliability of the architecture’s design, image’s metadata storage and management, image files stored algorithm and image cache design etc. The system consists of five main modules, namely:image metadata module, image storage module, image cache module, load balancing module and Web Services module. Finally it tests moduals’ function such as upload, update, query, and remove function; while it also tests moduals’ performance such as transfer image and read the image.
