In the next generation wireless networks, large volumes of data are en-visioned to be delivered. The resource allocation problem turns out to be a real challenge due to the conflict between limited resources and the fairly large volumes of data, as well as the advanced techniques recently implemented in the networks, such as Femtocell and subjective metrics. Femtocells in wireless networks, named Heterogeneous Networks, can improve the indoor coverage of home users but make the interference environment complicated. Quality-of-Experience, as one of the most popular subjective metrics, can directly reflect the subjective opinions of users who request and pay for satisfying services. Therefore, it is necessary to utilize the available resources efficiently so as to achieve improvements in terms of the subjective metric.This article presents firstly the introduction and evaluation of the wire-less networks without and with Femtocells. Secondly, based on the existing works, the complicated interference environment with Femtocells is studied and a power control algorithm for the cross-tier interference from home eN-odeB to macro users is proposed, as well as the specific flow and signaling for implementation. Simulation results show that the algorithm can mitigate the cross-tier interference while its effect on home users is limited. Thirdly, a QoE-aware power allocation algorithm is presented for the wireless networks without Femtocells, which aims to maximize the overall QoE under the con-straint of total transmit power. Performance evaluation validates that it can improve the user QoE compared to the traditional algorithm.
