Coalition Game-Based Cooperative Spectrum Sensing Research In Cognitive Radio Networks

The requirement of spectrum is growing dramatically due to the rapid development of wireless communications services. Because of the utilization inefficiency of static spectrum allocation, both the academic and industrial field began to pay more attention to novel methods for spectrum management. Cognitive Radio, a newly emerging technology, has promoted the development in spectrum management. Spectrum sensing, which is the key technology of cognitive radio, is the foundation of spectrum resources management and spectrum sharing in cognitive radio networks, so the research about of the spectrum sensing in cognitive radio networks is of high theoretic and practical importance.This thesis adopts mathematical analysis and simulation to research the spectrum sensing in cognitive radio networks. It focused on cooperative spectrum sensing, researched the common spectrum sensing technologies, the base knowledge of game theory, and the applications of game theory model in cognitive radio networks.The main achievements of this thesis lie in the following aspects:A. Researched the common spectrum sensing technologiesThis thesis researched the common spectrum sensing technologies and their comparison, as well as the foundation knowledge of game theory, such as non-cooperative game and cooperative game, and its applications in cognitive radio networks.B. Proposed the distributed cooperative spectrum sensing algorithmBased on the research of coalitional game theory and cooperative spectrum sensing methods, this thesis proposed the coalitional game based cooperative spectrum sensing algorithm with only one primary spectrum band. And we specifically analyzed the cooperative sensing parameters, the characteristic value setting of coalitional game, as well as the coalition’s comparison and formation. The thesis simulated the system model and analyzed the simulation result, which shows that our proposed cooperative spectrum sensing scheme has better spectrum performance than traditional scheme.C. Extended to multiple primary spectrum bands scene Only one primary spectrum band is just the foundation for research, which is not practical in real circumstance. So the thesis extended and analyzed the coalitional based cooperative spectrum sensing algorithm on multiple primary spectrum bands scene. However, because the analysis’s complexity of multiple primary spectrum bands, this thesis only gives an idea, and will focus on in-depth study in the next step.In a word, this thesis has researched the cooperative spectrum sensing algorithm based on coalitional game theory in cognitive radio network, and provided some points for spectrum sensing based on cooperative game theory.
