With the age of network arriving, users’requirements for broad band network are increasing. Now, Domestic telecom operators start to extend their own network capacity, and commercialization of 3G network need many 3G base station. Both the 3G network and the digital communication network are carried on transport network. Therefore, the scale of transport network are huge than before. Newly added network elements are increasing greatly, which make the network complicated and effect the security of the network. Besides, some network elements are even the bottleneck to increasing the network speed. China Unicom are taking measures to solve the problem. One hand, we are still extending the transport network capacity, on the other hand, we are making evaluation and optimization on the structure and configuration to improve the security and robustness of the network. In order to summarize a effective method for extension, China Unicom Inner Mongolia Branch take Ordos, a city of rapid development, as an example, and attempt to start work. We start work from the network evaluation, and find problems from the evaluation result. Then, we analyze the representative network problem according to the tendency of local business development. Finally, we take appropriate measures to solve hidden troubles. I am fortunate to attend the work and make analysis and summary of the process.By the evaluation and optimization work, the structure of the network become clear, the resource utilization ratio increases, and the network security is improved. It supplies significant reference for operation maintenance, resource management, network optimization and planning.
