With the rapid development of mobile Internet, the smart phonte has been booming. Smart phone based on android operating system, with its openness, friendly user interface, excellent multitasking capabilities and powerful multimedia applications, makes itself stand out from kinds of smart phone’s operation system platform. In these multimedia applications, the performance of camera module has a major impact on the consumers’choice. Therefore, developing smart phone with high-performance camera module becomes a focus for those smart phone solution providers.The thesis’s topic based on the android development project which I took part in during my internship at Intel Corporation. The project’s objective is to lunch the first Atom-based smart phone on the market in 2012. On this project, the author involved in implementation and optimization of camera subsystem. The major task of thesis is as follows:Firstly, the development situation and mode of mainstream smart phone, and the industry level for camera module of smart phone domestically and internationally, were investigated. The background and significance of the thesis were expounded.Secondly, the hardware platform design of camera subsystem combined with raw sensor and ISP was researched. Meanwhile, design and implementation for camera driver layer and HAL(Hardware Abstrat Layer) were detailed discussed. The burst capture mode for taking capture was impletmented independently.Thirdly, the key problems that influence latency for Camera subsystems were researched. The design for optimization plan was involved in. The optimization method for parallelizing execution sequences and setting uncached buffer were implemented and verified independtly. The latency was reduced by 30 percent after verifying.
