Cable harness is an important part in the mechanical and electrical products and systems, which is widely used in the products of automotive field, electrical cabinets, and computers. In the traditional wiring, we treat the true cable harness as a flexible part and examine the practicability of the wiring through simulative installation on the product prototype which has many problems such as a long cycle, low efficiency, a waste of resources and without global planning. With the development of CAD technology, a good platform for the modeling and path planning of the cable harness is provided which has an important significance to route the cable harness reasonably and improve the quality of the mechanical and electrical products.Now there are lot kinds of excellent software about the three-dimensional wiring at abroad. But they are not commonly used in the wiring for their large scale, high price and high-level requirements to the operator and complex operations. This topic studies the modeling and routing of the three-dimensional cable harness in the system framework of the three-dimensional modeling software JhSolid, which is based on the demand of a power company in Dalian and aims at developing a routing system at a familiar way that simple, practical and reliable. The main works of the paper are as follows:1. Establishment for the geometric model and feature model of three-dimensional cable harness is realized. According to the status of the cable harness modeling, it is proposed a method that based on the control points of human-computer interaction for the cable harness’s centerline modeling, which uses sweep options to construct the entity of the cable and HOOPS to display the cable. Then it modifies the cable harness model through operating the human-computer interactive control points and shows the summary statistics of the cable information.2. It studies the method of routing design based on the human-computer interaction in the three-dimensional modeling environment. The routing function module and interface are developed in JhSolid and the positioning method of routing control points are detailed studied. The route designing system realizes the path planning of different kinds of cable harness through the operations based on control points of human-computer interaction and detects the interference among the wires. 3. The human-computer routing system is achieved in the development environment of Microsoft Visual Studio2008with the platform of JhSolid system framework.Finally, in order to verify the research, the system is carried out on a simple instance of product to realize the cable harness modeling and path planning. The result shows that the system gains more reasonable cable information of routing design.
