The quantity of disease reservoirs in China is very multitudinous, which may result in hazards of the dam-break flood. On May12,2008, a magnitude8.0earthquake struck China. The earthquake caused33barrier lakes, injured over1000reservoirs. The barrier lakes have accumulative potential risks due to the loose components of soil and rocks and increasing reservoir storage capacity.88percent of landslide dams fail within1years based existing statistics of63cases from the literature, and a dam burst often brings significant flooding casualties to the downstream residents. Dam-break flood affected by highly changing and complex environment, have some characteristics including the sudden of occurrence, the rapid of expansion and the urgency of respond. Thus, how to scientifically and highly efficiently analyze the dam-break risk of the barrier lake and its impact area is very important for the barrier lake disposal and downstream communities transfer. The problem of the barrier lake is very complex. Current researches mainly focuses on the statistical analysis and the experience judgment to historical data. The systemic and quantificational research results was lacking. There have many key problems to be solved. By means of the network, geographical information system, the multi-agent and workflow technology, this paper will focus on how to establish multi-agent based the workflow model of the dam-break risk assessment. Based on existing the numerical model and risk assessment methods, we will share distributed information and support multi-user joining in the collaborative analysis, which can improve the risk assessment efficiency. The paper firstly analyzed the characteristics and evaluation content of dam-break risk in the barrier lake. The index system of risk assessment of dam-break in a barrier lake was created. Meanwhile, assessment methods of dam-break risk was systemically analyzed to establish the working steps of risk assessment of dam-break in a barrier lake. We further designed single user risk assessment dam-break workflow model and multi-user collaborative assessment workflow model of dam-break risk. Then multi-agent system (MAS) technology was used to construct collaborative risk assessment workflow mode of dam-break in barrier lake. Meantime, some key technologies such as collaborative group control mechanism, mobile agent computing were also addressed. Finally, Xiaojiaqiao Barrier Lake located in the Chaping River upstream in Anxian County, Sichuan Province, China, was selected as our case study. Using Microsoft Visual Studio2005. net, OpenGL, OpenSceneGraph and osgEarth, a prototype system was developed to support risk assessment in single and distributed collaborative models. The risk assessment workflow model based on multi-agent can effectively integrate distributed spatial data resources and dam-break flood spatio-temporal model, shield cumbersome calculate process, and reduce the chance for errors. The scheme addressed in this paper can improve the efficiency of the forecasting analysis and the emergency response of dam-break risk of barrier lakes.
