With the rapid development of information technology in recent years,embeded hand-held device technology has won wide development space. Inorder to meet various needs of people life, more and more high-end embededhand-held devices such as GPS, handheld computers, smart phones, havepenetrated into every corner of people’s lives. Compared with conventionalsystems, embeded hand-held devices have higher requirements in powerconsumption, system performance.This thesis aims at solving the problem that high power consumption ofhand-held device and catering to the diversity requirements to the high-endhand-held device performance, combined with the functions and features of thePXA320, the paper designs a core board based on PXA320processor which isscalable embeded general-purpose hand-held device. This processor is designedspecifically for PDA, GPS positioning system, intelligent mobile phone andother consumer electronic equipment, running at1.2GHz and can be adjusted to806MHz, and whose keys are Intel’s advanced0.18μm technologymanufacturing, intelligent power management, low power consumption, theapplicable range from0.1mW to1.6W. The platform is rich in board resource,peripheral module circuit interface for hand-held devices are designed in coreboard, it is convenient for further developing and extending its function.The thesis introduces the composition of the entire hardware system,including minimum system components of the core board of hand-held devicesand peripheral module circuits of test board hardware platform. Illustrates theworking principle of peripherial module circuits and characteristics of thehardware chip.The main work of the project focus on designing and developingthis hand-held device, designing of the circuit schematic and PCB are included.The design of hardware circuit board is six layers of the PCB, the layout of PCBand routing are discussed in this article,and EMC and ESD problem that lies in the designing process are also discussed.In view of actual application state of the operation system that transplantedto the hand-held devices, integrated with hard system architecture of thiscore-board, introduces relavent designing theory of system software in this thesis.The article mainly describes the characteristics of the embedded Linux operatingsystem and kernel porting process. Finally, debug the hardware and softwaresystem, in terms of corresponding data, draw the conclusion that this platformpossess the charactersitcs of low power consumption, good stability, fast speed,and easy to expand. Test results and shortcomings are summarized and analyzedin the end, which puts forward the direction for the further study of this coreboard.
