With the development of science and technology and the progress of human society, the semiconductor laser has been widely used. In applications such as Laser printing, bar code scanning, laser treatment and industrial welding, Semiconductor laser is always a key part of the whole contracture. Semiconductor laser has characteristics such as light weight, small size, inexpensive price and high efficiency energy conversion. Therefore, it has become the basis of modern industrial and scientific applications. Expanding application areas of semiconductor lasers make laser product features progressing in different direction, and confuse their kind. The key part of the application, laser driver and controller’s type and style are difficult to achieve a unified standard in applications for different directions, which result in adverse effects for customization and production to the devices. To solve this problem, the paper launched the investigation according to the application technology of semiconductor laser module.Firstly, the paper focuses on the system analysis in optical and electrical properties of semiconductor laser products, and then classifies the different types of lasers by the characteristics of interfaces and packages. Firstly, according to the characteristics of major domestic and foreign semiconductor laser of the product, the paper give a comparison of product characteristics, the standard of the output power and the size of the package, and also gives the practical application of these types of semiconductor lasers and drive control method. The similarities and differences of the control method is concluded statistically. Secondly, the paper generalizes the typical drive and control method of semiconductor laser with the statistic data obtained above. It includes the technical characteristics study of the driver and thermostat, the method of drive and control and the optimization method of temperature controller. The analysis and optimization focuses on parameters and structural characteristics and then achieves a specification of standardized control method. Finally, the paper uses the practical application of the semiconductor laser as the background to build a semiconductor laser-based application control platform. Respectively, using low-power semiconductor lasers,1W light-emitting diodes and3W light-emitting diodes to process experiments of driven and thermostatically control. A depth and detailed analysis of experimental data in the application platform is then given, and ultimately obtained experimental results which consistent with the prior theory elaborated. The correctness of the method is verified.In summary, the paper has sufficient arguments and experimental basis, and ultimately obtained a semiconductor laser to meet the actual control application technology platform. Based on the platform a laser can work stable and reliable in a controlled temperature range. The platform’s modular structure can easily be combined to reduce the equipment size, and improve portability has played an effective role.
