Artificial neural network is focused since it has been used in many fields successfully recent years. The results of electrophysiological experiment on squid’s huge axons show that biological neurons have significant chaotic characteristics. Chaotic neural network model then was proposed based on these features. Chaotic neural network will be one of the most important research fields in artificial neural networks, because of its rich dynamics and potential application in information processing.In the past, a fully connected model between neurons was used in most neural network study, which means any neuron is connected to others in the network. But research results on nervous system of the cat and monkey denote that the neuron is not fully connected to others. The clustering phenomenon in the nervous system has been observed. Other research results show that the biological brain network may like a small-world networks.In this paper, we use Aihara’s chaotic neuron and chaotic neural network model to study the synchronization in the neuronal system. First, we studied the synchronization properties of chaotic neuron clusters of chain structure with the threshold coupling method, and then study the dynamic characteristics of chaotic neural networks of net structure in different connection conditions. At last, we employ small-world network model to research the dynamics of chaotic neural network. Results show that the small-world chaotic neural network has abundant dynamic characteristics, which is similar to organisms’reproductive process and brain activity.
