With the rapid development of Internet, IP service grows exponentially. The network size continues expanding, organization is more complex. In addition to a variety of Internet services require more levels of QoS services, and service granularity diversified, the traditional transport network which is designed for TDM has been exposed the problem which couldn’t be solved by itself. For these characteristics, the ITU-T proposed the Automatic Switch Optical Network (ASON), it introduces the control plane in traditional transport network in order to implement the resource and connectivity of network to be automatic management, so that the optical networks have the intelligent features. The introduction of ASON has greatly increased the flexibility of the network, make the resources can be sufficiently used. In the multi-layer multi-domain intelligent optical network, how to manage the network more quickly and effectively and how to select the wavelength allocation scheme can reduce conflict, improve resource occupancy is a hot issue.Author relies on the participation of 863 goal-oriented project "scalable multi-layer multi-domain ASON key technologies and experimental systems", focus on the architecture of multi-layer multi-domain intelligent optical network, network management, design and implementation of graphical user interface, routing and wavelength assignment and etc. The main work and innovations of this paper can be included as follows:Firstly, this paper describes the framework, advantages and several key technologies of the experimental multi-layer multi-domain optical networks, including multi-layer multi-domain optical network architecture based on dual routing engine, network protocols innovation, routing algorithms and resource allocation strategies, protection and restoration techniques, functional testing and performance evaluation.Secondly, for the requirements of 863project management, design and implement a multi-layer multi-domain ASON management plane to achieve topology management, configuration management, fault management, performance management, security management and other functions, through testing the key module, results show that the network management system can manage the network which has at least 1000 nodes.Lastly, for the routing with distributed Wavelength Assignment (WA) architecture in PCE-based Wavelength Switched Optical Networks using Backward Reservation Protocol (BRP), when there are two or more path requests through the same link, resource conflicts may occur even though there are enough resources. In order to reduce resource conflicts caused by concurrent requests, an extension of the PCE signaling scheme (PAWA) has been proposed in this paper, through the simulation, compared with traditional solutions, the proposed scheme expand the protocol can reduce the blocking probabilities while almost not increase delay and resource occupancy.
