With the development of space technology and the raise of satellite launching, the application of navigation and positioning technology has become more and more important as while as an indispensable indicator of a receiver. This paper focuses on the research of the application of navigation and positioning technology of muti-mode receiver based on DSP and FPGA as hardware platform which achieves the tracking and capturing algorithm with FPGA and positioning processing with DSP to implement the muti-mode receiver system.Currently there are various methods to realize the positioning. This paper adopts the common positioning methods combining with DSP hardware platform to achieve the single frequency precision point position technique, compared with dual frequency differential positioning, which is simpler and easier to implement in receiver and migrate but with lower positioning accuracy. And also this paper states the theory and features of position technology and explains the coordinate and time system of positioningby the introduction and comparison ofcurrent satellite systems. Furthermore, the design and implementation platform, especially the hardware connection and software driver has been illustrated. And the approach of positioning error correction has been introduced. Finally, the situation and application of above positioning technique in electric power has been introduced and the development prospect has been discussed.
