The smart home system, through the information network, can make up the householdappliances, security monitoring devices and other devices an organism. Simultaneously, thesystem can execute unified management of these devices to make a safe, smart and comfortablehome environment. The smart home is becoming the requirement of future residential, and therapid development of computer technology and wireless communication technologies providesthe wireless smart home a more complete technical support.By analyzing the requirement of smart home systems, the features and performance of thecoordinator node of a smart home system was designed. Through the analysis of several commonwireless communication technologies, based on IEEE802.15.4ZigBee technology, thecomposition of the coordinator node of a smart home system was proposed. Compared withseveral devices, hardware circuits of the coordinator node were designed, including the choice ofeach module and its peripheral circuits. The design use MSP430F149chip and the CC2480ZigBee wireless communication module and Faro3.2GPRS module to implement the hardwarecircuit. Tested in the laboratory test platform, the coordinator node can communicate with eachterminal node for data communication in50meters. And also the coordinator node designed inthis paper can communicate with cellphone through the GPRS module, in order to achieve thepurpose of controlling the terminal node. In the overall test, the coordinator node has thecapabilities of information processing, controlling, alarm and data communications and hasachieved the desired design goals.
