As a branch of3D measurement, Stereo vision has become an active research theme for itsbionic advantages. It is widely used in many areas including biomedical science, security system,industrial test and so on. Whether the dynamic measurement can be realized or not is a key criteria forthe estimation of a stereo vision measuring approach. Based on the measuring principle of binocularvision, this paper focuses on the key technologies of measuring process and proposes a3D measuringsystem based on the projection of a piece of color coded pattern, which well realizes3D measuringtasks. This article mainly includes:(1) A mathematical model of3D reconstruction is established based on the analysis of themeasurement principle of binocular stereo vision. The calibration of the system is achieved.(2) The key problem of binocular stereo vision---the match of corresponding points as well asvarious coding ways for image matching is analyzed and studied. A match method realized by onlyprojecting a piece of color coded pattern on the object is proposed, and the feasibility of this method isverified.(3) By combining the stability problems arisen from the matching process using the proposedmethod with the existing methods of color segmentation, we designed a new color extraction andsegmentation method, which is called Dynamic Threshold Segmentation Method(DTSM). Thismethod can separate the chromatic stripe very well and exclude the effects of ambient light.(4) By analyzing structural parameters which may affect the experimental results, we design therelated structure parameters and program to realize the whole system framework and conduct somemeasurements on some simple surfaces.
