Three-dimensional anthropometry is collecting the size and shape information of human body to study human body morphological characteristics, which are very important and provide human body basic information for Industrial Design, Ergonomics Applies, Engineering Design, Anthropology Research, Medical Science and so on.This paper mainly study on 3D human body sizes automatically extracted from laser scanning point. Introducing methods of locating human body landmarks and sizes , which were classified into three kinds. And these methods have been proved to be accurate and precise while testing on human subjects and plaster mannequin. Also methods of improving precise of human sizes measurement results are elaborated. Finally, this paper applied 3D human body sizes to identify human body shape. The major work and innovation points of the paper as follow:1. Elaborately illustrate four algorithms can be employed for locating anatomical landmarks from 3D scanning data, including maximum or minimum circumference determination, human-body silhouette analysis, human body symbolic information and so on . And the method has been proved to be accurate and precise while testing on 10 human subjects and plaster mannequin.2. Based on the results of landmarks, 47 dimensions of the human body can be collected by using approximation methods. A two-stage evaluation was conducted for accessing the performance of scan-derived measurments in terms of accuracy and precision. And the method has been proved to be accurate and precise while comparing with traditional palpation works by testing on plaster mannequin and 10 human subjects.3. Propose Automatic model style measurement based on automated body feature extraction from 3D Scanning data, which is used in selecting model. 13 primary human body sizes are extracted exactly and quickly using this method.4. To improve the precise of automatically extracting 3D human body sizes, analysis the possibilities causing measurement error. And then develop the corresponding improvement methods, which were proved to be effective though analyzing measurement results.
