H.264/AVC is video coding standard enacted by ITU-T and ISO/IEC JointWorking Group.It has become a new generation of international video compressionstandard for its high coding efficiency and good network compatibility, It has a verybroad application prospects in the area of digital media, H.264algorithm has highencoding efficiency but also high complexity, while the DSP chip is especially suitablefor dealing with complex video processing algorithms with its strong processing speedand low consumption of resources through dedicated instructions and architecturaldesign. Davinci technology platform combines the DSP chip with C64x+processor,providing a strong parallel processing capability.It has presently become an idealplatform in the area of video frequency application for its high computing performanceand rich peripheral interface.The paper come from the intelligent vehicle terminal project.The main purpose ofthis paper is to realization H.264real-time video encoding on TMS320DM6467. Wehave do the following work:First we have introduced the existing video coding standard, and then gived adetailed analysis of the H.264coding algorithm’s principle and core technologies.Including the transformation and quantization, motion compensation, entropy coding,the deblocking filter.Subsequently learned TMS320DM6467digital multimedia chip system, then wepay an emphasis on the structural characteristics of the hardware platform and programdevelopment process.After that we optimize the x264encoding algorithm on PC, and complete thepackage of the algorithm.Finally this paper described in detail the optimization process of the H.264videoencoding algorithm in davinci platform, make full use of the advantages of DSPhardware, using a variety of optimization methods to optimize the original algorithm,substantially increased the efficiency of the implementation of the program, This paperfinally realized a real-time H.264encoder in DM6467hardware platform,whichcomplete one way real-time image processing with CIF format.The intelligent vehicleterminal project has been tested and product a prototype model.
