The comprehensive benefit of the Three Gorges Project on the aspect of floodcontrol, power generation, and shipping has become increasingly prominent, and it willbring far-reaching impact on our country’s economic construction and development.So at present, the relevant departments have paid great attention to the condition of theThree Gorges Reservoir area water environment and ecological environment, and thewater environment monitoring problem of the Three Gorges of Yangtze River alreadyhas become a hotspot and difficulty research problem.With the rapid development of wireless sensor network technology, introduce thewireless sensor network into the Three Gorges Reservoir area water environmentsystem, establish a wireless sensor network for the Three Gorges Reservoir area waterenvironment monitoring system and finally realize a low cost, high efficiency “ThreeGorges Reservoir water environment monitoring system based on wireless sensornetwork”.These have important theoretical value and practical significance todeveloping the wireless sensor networks theory and increasing the theoretical level andapplication level of water environment monitoring of our country.In the Three Gorges Reservoir area-such large scale wireless sensor network, thesensor nodes’ energy consumption is very large, therefore, improving the network’senergy efficiency has become the key problem of this monitoring system. Routeoptimization is the basic method to solve the problem of nodes’ energy efficiency. Sothis paper carries out the research around the routing optimization problem for largescale wireless sensor network.Based on the depth study of the typical routing protocol for wireless sensornetwork and combined with the specific application environment-The Three GorgesReservoir, this paper finally proposed a novel energy-saving adaptive routing protocolfor large scale wireless sensor network, which has obtained very good application effect.The main work is as follows:(1) Built the large scale wireless sensor network topology by using thegradient-based topology generator.(2) Establish the network model and mathematical model of the adaptive routingalgorithm, and using this algorithm to select the optimal routing for the data packet andbalance the network load. (3)Using MATLAB, the simulation test of the proposed methodology is conductedin three representative different scenarios: Ⅰ、the two source nodes are adjacent nodesⅡ、the two source nodes are not adjacent nodes Ⅲ、the number of nodes in thiswireless sensor network changes from50to250. The first and second simulation resultshas verified the feasibility and advantage of the algorithm, namely, the load of overallnetwork can be equally distributed and the energy consumption can be significantlyreduced, which is benefit to prolong the lifetime of the network. And the thirdsimulation results show the proposed protocol is advanced in the large scale wirelesssensor network, with the number of nodes in the network increasing, the network scaleenlarging, and this novel energy-saving adaptive routing protocol for large scalewireless sensor network‘s superiority is more obvious.
