Research And Implement Of Smart Home Getway Based On KNX Protocol

Smart home, as the future one of the key developing fields of the4C technology, is intelligent,green and humane. In this field, the international application of home netword is relatively mature. Asthere are various bus protocols, a unified standard was made in recent years, named KNX protocolstandard. In our country, the production and technology in this aspect has just started. And there aresome disadvantages of the exiting KNX production, such as the scattered single funcation, expensiveprice. Based on this, the paper was focused on a gateway and a room controller development, whichare multifunctional, multi-interface and low price.We developed the gateway and room controller, both based on KNX, after studying, researchingand analysising the KNX protocol, use of the existing KNX components, combined with the latestmicrocontroller and network technology. The gateway’s role is twofold: First, connects the familyinternel KNX net and the Ethernet, provids Web server funcation, so users can access and control thehome appliances via the Web; Second, centralized controls the device on the family net, and differentcontrol modes can be set. The room controller united sensors and actuators to reduce the hardwarecost. It collects the indoor datas and receives the control commands from the bus, analyzes them andexecutes. It properly controls home appliances via switching circuit or infrared control circuit, andfeedbacks the operating results and the data from sensor to the gateway. The gateway and roomcontroller both provided two modes of coupling with the KNX bus, using TP-UART-IC and BWP08.The results of experiment proved that the low price gateway and room controller fully met thesystem requirements, and they worked highly reliability, strong ability.
