Visible light communication technology, with no needs wireless spectrum certification,safe and reliable advantages, combines the advanced semiconductor lighting technology andoptical communication technology, and has become a research hotspot in the field of wirelesscommunication. Furthermore, Visible light communication technology integrates into theEthernet technology can give full play to the advantages of both, to provide a new Ethernetaccess solutions.This paper discusses the development of visible light communication technologies at homeand abroad. By comparing other light communication, this paper summarizes the advantages ofvisible light communication, such as without wireless spectrum certification, ecurity, reliabilityand resistance to electromagnetic interference and many other advantages. The keytechnologies of visible light communication-optical transmitter and receiver technology areresearched. In light emission, analysising the working principle and characteristics of visibleLED light source, studing the modulation technique of the LED light source. In light receiver,for porposing optical receiver performance requirements and design, the PIN detector’sworking principle and characteristics are analysed, the work is focusing on the pre-amplifier.On the basis of the visible light communication technology, the paper analyzes thecommunication requirements of the Ethernet technology to design Ethernet-based LED visiblelight communication system. It combines two technologies to get the best of both worlds. Inorder to solve for different signal level requirements between the visible light communicationand computer, the Ethernet media converter circuit are designed to complete the conversion ofthe tri-state bipolar MLT-3signal and unipolar NRZ signal. Meanwhile, the Ethernet mediaconverter circuit is also responsible for signal clock extraction, signal decision regeneration,forwarding data and other functions. In order to meet the requirements of high-speedcommunications, this paper designs a high-speed modulation circuit of the LED light source.The optical receiver circuit is designed to achieve the optical signal receiving function. To takeaccount of different voltage requirements between the different modules of the system, systempower supply circuit is designed. Finally, the factors that affect system performance are discuse,and then targeted to take appropriate measures to optimize system performance. This Papercompletes the design of the entire system, combining the visible light communicationtechnology into the Ethernet, to provide a new wireless broadband access solutions, this hasbroad application prospects.
