Video-on-Demand System Based On Campus News

In the age the Internet, it is the ever widening of backbone and desktop broadband, and theimprovement of video compression coding efficiency, quality and production technology that haspromoted the development of the network transmission of video news. The online video news isdefined as reports on recent or ongoing facts, propagated through the Internet in form of video.The online video news which integrates static pictures, sounds, texts and videos, has graduallywon the favor of people for its intuitiveness and authenticity, achieving the effect of real timesharing of large volume of information.In this paper, a video-on-demand system based on B/S structure is developed. With thissystem, we can release, watch programs such as campus video news, campus activities,teacher-student interviews and classroom teaching, thereby letting more teachers and students toknow the campus news, and cultivating students’ interest in teaching. The system consists of twocomponents: the background management and the page-on-demand module. The system isdeveloped based on.Net2.0development platform, and the combination of the MVC pattern andthe three-tier architecture. The backstage database is the SQL SERVER2000. The system runson the school’s server. Information sharing is achieved through daily dynamic publishing andupdating of news video.
