Photonic crystal fibers have two remarkable characteristics: they allow precisecontrol of the chromatic dispersion and present high nonlinear effect. These twocharacteristics of photonic crystal fibers provide the conditions for supercontinuumgeneration. In this paper, we numerically study soliton trapping of supercontinuum inphotonic crystal fiber by solving generalized nonlinear schr dinger equation. Using thereasonable display window of supercontinuum, the propagation of the supercontinuumwas recorded along the fiber and the evolution of soliton trapping was observed. Wediscuss its potential value in practice. This paper can provide the theory basis for tunableultra-short laser pulses and supercontinuum research.First of all, we represent the derivation of basic equation that governs propagation ofoptical pulses in photonic crystal fibers. The occasion of use of generalized nonlinearschr dinger equation and matters needing attention are analyzed. The concepts whichrepresent the physical meanings in generalized nonlinear Schr dinger equation arediscussed.Secondly, we numerical simulated the transmission of ultra-short pulses usingsplit-step Fourier method for generalized nonlinear Schr dinger equation. The linear partof the equation is calculated in the time domain. We use fourth-order Runge-Kutta methodto carry out the integration of the nonlinear of the equation. Raman response is calculatedin the frequency domain. Then, soliton trapping is observed in the photonic crystal fiber by simulating ofCross-correlation frequency resolved optical gating. We record the entire transformation ofsoliton trapping and discuss the reason and condition about soliton trapping on the basis ofthe theory. Finally, we observe the influence of different pumping power and pumping width ofthe pulses in the soliton trapping. We discuss nonlinear interaction of soliton trapping, anddiscuss the potential application of soliton trapping in the tunable ultra-short laser pulses, ultraviolet spectrum and all optical switching.
