With the general progress of digital multimedia technology, the formats of video coding become more and more enriched. Video transcoding technology has been more demandingly required. The market demand of video transcoding increased and has higher requirements of development cycle, cost and flexibility. For this target, DaVinci offered by Texas Instruments (TI) is used in this paper to design and achieve video transcoding. DaVinci is a set of solution focusing on the development and application of video products, which can highly meet the market demand of video transcoding products.Research background and significant of this project is firstly introduced in this paper, along with a brief introduction about DaVinci. Then two feasible video transcoding design schemes focusing on DaVinci are mainly discussed. The first scheme is developing the transcoding algorithm, packaging the algorithm into library file (.lib), integrating the library file in the Linux operation system, calling by programs achieve the transcoding. The detailed realization process of this proposal is described in this paper and the application program finally obtained has been data-tested. The result of the test indicates that the realization process proposed in this paper can achieve the expected factions. In another scheme that uses the XDAIS Algorithm Interface offered by TI, the original video data is firstly obtained by decoding the input video file and then encoded to obtain the compressing data as the output data after transcoding. The over-all structure of this proposal is also detailed described in the paper. The specific realization process is basically the same with the former one only with some modulation in certain configuration files. Since the simultaneously application of two AV codec algorithms in this scheme, the allocation of memory space within programs should be carefully paid attention to.At last, this paper summarizes the design of video transcoding based on the DaVinci technique, and it also gives a new scheme about future work.
