To meet the growing demand for engineering applications, the interconnection structures between electrical and electronic systems, devices, circuits become more and more complex. The interconnected space is getting smaller and smaller, and the numbers of the cables keep increasing. Crosstalk between the various cable and cable harness makes the electromagnetic environment becoming extremely complex. It has become a very important issue in the field of electromagnetic compatibility. This paper focuses on the characteristics of crosstalk of cable and cable harness in time-domain. Various structures of cables and cable harness are presented in the paper, and the corresponding multi-conductor transmission line models are established. Finally, the time-domain results are obtained through the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The signal line is a single conductor or a shielded cable, and the receiving lines can be single conductors, twisted lines and shielded cables. Crosstalks in the near end and the far end of the receiving lines are simulated in the case of resistive load and inductive load. Simulation results show totally agreement with the experiment results. A new simple method is presented in this paper for solving the crosstalk between a single wire and a twisted-wire pair above the ground. On this basis,?an equivalent cable bundle method is presented in this paper. It reduces the requirements of time and memories for analyzing the crosstalk of cable bundles by reducing the complexity of the cable bundle models. Conductors of the complete cable bundle are separated into several groups. Each group of conductors turns to be an equvialent conductor while avoiding overlapping. The number of conductors of the equvialent cable bundle is far less than that of the complete wire harness. Simulation results for a complete cable bundle show totally agreement with the equivalent cable bundles.?...
