With the speeding up of China’s city development, the number of migrant workers in most of the big city grow with each passing day, It is compounded the education problem of children of migrant workers. It is puts forward clearly that to promote the healthy growth of students as the starting point and end-result of all the work of the school in National medium and long-term educational reform and development plan (2010-2020). Shanghai, as a big city of migrant workers gather, how to let the children of migrant workers receive a good education is an urgent problem to be solved. But the teaching material version diversification between the regional, and the regional flow of students, it makes students have a bad link up with former teaching materials.This study derives from the problems found in the investigation, children of migrant workers falling too far behind normal English teaching in school. But the existing research did the research from the teacher and teaching material view. The core research question is the students’ adaptation status about English teaching materials in the children of migrant workers school in this study. This research select the students of Shanghai M district children of migrant workers school as the research object, mainly using the method of questionnaire survey, supplemented by interview and classroom observation based on the literature review. The aim of questionnaire for English teachers is to know the students’ adaptation status of the teaching materials from the perspective of teachers. This study analysed the students’ adaptation status of Oxford Shanghai Education version of English teaching materials and the influencing factors.According to the results of the survey, students have a better adaptation as a whole in English teaching materials, their self-evaluation on reading and writing is better than listening and speaking. Students are unactive and their performance in the classroom is just so-so. The teacher-student relationship is more harmonious, most of the students hope to get more attention from teacher. The problems are, the English level of students is different, but parents can’t provide good guidance and support and the frequent transfer problems brought great distress to some students learning. English teachers are young but their degree level remains to be further improved. Teachers think that teaching material is too difficult and they need to increase the training of English teaching materials textual unscrambling. In the fifth chapter, the thesis writer analysed the influencing factors of students’ adaptation to teaching material from the students, teachers, family and school. The corresponding countermeasures and suggestions from advantage resources introduction, teacher training and the development of school-based curriculum are at the end, they can improve the adaptability of students in English teaching materials and have a better school life.
