| With the development of economic globalization, every country has a new criterion for talents. As a special group of the society, college students should improve and change themselves to adapt to this new situation. Leadership, which is an important part of college students’ ability, attracts the attention of scholars from both home and abroad. The study of students’ leadership appears in this context. Students’ leadership is an interdisciplinary area involved management, psychology leadership and other discipline. So this research about college students’ leadership development has very important theoretical and practical significance.Based on the literature review, we found that the study of the college students’ leadership still remain in the primary stage. There is only brief elaboration of relevant theory and simple introduce of foreign idea and model. The research about the dimensions, the antecedents and result variables of students’ leadership, and the empirical study is almost blank in this area.In this paper, we use empirical method to investigate domestic college students to explore the structure of the college students’ leadership and the relationship between the antecedent variables and students’ leadership. Firstly, we choose factor analysis to verify the structural dimensions of the college student’ leadership and its antecedents. Secondly, we use the independent samples T-test and one-way ANOVA analysis to verify the difference of student’ leadership on different personal characteristics. Thirdly, we use correlation analysis and stepwise multiple regression analysis to verify the relationship between the each dimension of antecedent variables and each dimension of students’ leadership.The main conclusions are as follows:First, college students’ leadership consists of four dimensions:information processing ability, task execution ability, cooperation ability, communication and coordination ability. Second, the antecedent variables of college students’ leadership include social participation, family functioning, personal temperament and organization factors. Social participation includes four dimensions:access to information, activities participation, expression of their opinions and participation in public affairs. The family consists of four dimensions:family emotion, family cohesion, family communication and family conflicts. The individual temperament contains personal qualities and personal charm. Organization factors include organization climate and organization culture. Third, there are obvious differences about leadership on different personal characteristics except sex. Fourth, social participation, family functioning, personal temperament, organization factors are all related to some parts of students’ leadership dimensions. |
