The new generation of migrant workers with its growing population has become the principal part of the group of migrant workers. Meanwhile, there comes many new problems. The issue of the new generation of migrant workers not only affects the urbanization of our country but also is closely related to the lofty goals of building a well-off and harmonious society. Compared with their parents, their right consciousness and demands for interests are stronger. They are eager to integrate into the cities but cannot be truly admitted by the cities. The gap between aspiration and reality leads to numerous problems and troubles for the new generation of migrant workers to win social recognition. It is also against their wish to settle down in the cities and to live a better life in the future.This study adopts a data collecting method which takes questionnaire investigation as the principal method and case investigation as a supplement. The method of analysis is combined by quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis. Taking an individual company in Hangzhou as an example, the study applies the theory of social recognition to the exploration and research in the social recognition mechanisms of the new generation of migrant workers. The main body of the thesis consists of four parts. The first part analyses basic individual information of the new generation of migrant workers. By analysing four dimensions, that is, identity recognition, city recognition, local recognition and future belonging recognition, the second part tries to have a thorough understanding of the new generation of migrant workers’ situation and problems in fighting for social recognition. The third part analyses the way and degree of the effect that five factors have on the new generation of migrant workers’ social recognition. The five factors are educational level, parents’ working experience,social security, free job training and human care. From the aspect of system, society and individual, the fourth part gives suggestions and measures to solve the social recognition issues and troubles the new generation of migrant workers face. This thesis adopts method and frames as mentioned above to have a detailed and thorough demonstration and research on the situation, problems and the mechanism behind of the new generation of migrant workers’ social recognition. And thereafter the thesis comes up with some suggestions and measures that can be referred to to do its modest means for the community in solving the problem of the social recognition of the new generation of migrant workers.
