As the rapid progress of society, economy, science and technology in the21century,the idea of lifelong education has gradually filtered into people s mind so that the demandsof adult higher education, whose responsibility of management has taken by the setting ofadult education school in university, has increased. With the great development, there stillexists many problems in the field of adult education. So it is imperative under the situationto have deeper knowledge of what states adult education is in, more discovery of problemsin the process of operating, more leaning of measures which works well proved abroad.There are six parts of this dissertation. The first is foreword, introducing five aspectsof the background, the meaning, the frame, the method and current situation in the field ofthe research. The second is the definition of the related conception, following by the theorybasis including human capital theory, market segmentation theory, theory of knowledgehalf-life and lifelong education theory. The third reviews the trace of the evolution of adulteducation in China after establishment of the nation. The fourth indicates the currentsituation, problems and reasons of credential-oriented adult education through case study,analyzing the general situation of adult education in XXX university, surveys andinterviews. The fifth reveals the features, current situation of adult education in thedeveloped, so as the differences between inland and foreign countries. The last try toanalyze trend of development of adult education and brings forward some suggestions.Observation, questionnaire research and interview were used in this research. Thecurrent situation of credential-oriented adult education was revealed at large using case. Ithas Development space though there’s the reality of marginalization during the process of running school. Suggestions and countermeasures was brought forward at the basis ofadvanced experience of foreign countries, such as European credit transfersystem(ECTS),credit bank system in Korea, level7qualification framework system inHong Kong. The conception of setting credit bank system in adult education in the futurewas set up. As the limit ability of researcher, there are still some subjects to be discussed,such as the limited sum of samples, singleness of method, ambiguity describe of creditbank system.
