Currently, doing exercises is the current main way to cultivate students’ ability of solvingproblems in senior physics teaching, during the process which students are required to usingexisting knowledge and rules to reinforce their understanding on the concepts, and improvetheir familiarity and skills for solving problems. Therefore, in this research, it aims to improvestudents’ ability of solving problems by improving their ability of doing exercises.Compared with junior high school physics, physical situational exercises in high school aremore complicated with stronger abstract generality of physical rules, more frequent linkingwith practical problems and higher requirements for mathematic tools. Through the study onstudents enrolling in2010of Rushan No.1Middle School, it is found that unfamiliarity toskills and negative emotions appearing during solving problems are the general reasons forthe difficulty. Further questionnaires reveal that improper understanding of the problems is themain obstacle hindering students’ ability of solving problems, with their preparations, abilityof applying mathematics tools to solve physical problems as well as the ability of usingstrategic knowledge to design the solution process.One-semester practice found that visualizing of physical problems and crystallizing ofthinking process play prominent roles to enhance students’ deep understanding and improvetheir ability for solution process design. Attribution training can act for enhancing student’sadjusting for their emotions. Moderately asking questions, timely feedback and moderatelymarking of keywords can help student to grasp physical knowledge more solid, and improvetheir ability of applying mathematics tools.
