Participatory Video entered Chinafrom the early90s last century, and quickly developed. As a special kind of videoproduction, Participatory Video is different from ordinary documentaries. ParticipatoryVideo is taken by the community, shoot the community and seen by the community, withemphasis on active community participation, so Participatory Video has a unique value incommunity social work. The special produce course of Participatory Video providepossibility and space for community partipation, community participation frequency is notvery high in China at present, there are some problems. Study Participatory Video as acommunity participation in the new path from the perspective of social work has importanttheoretical and practical significance.Currently, the theory and practice of Participatory Video is still in the exploratorystage, four hot spots are formed in China, including Yunnan, Sichuan, Beijing andShanghai. This paper studies point in Shanghai, Participatory Video in Shanghai emphasison community building.
