China is a country of most old-age population in the world. With the intensifying of aging of population, the number of rural old disabled is on the increase. Compared with cities, there is a big gap in such aspects as economic development, social security and social welfare benefits in rural areas. For those rural old disabled living in economic backward areas, physical disability and psychological pressure are the main factors to make them more disadvantaged. As multiple vulnerable groups, more care and support in economy and psychology should be given to those rural old disabled.With the rural old disabled as the research object, this thesis adopts the method of depth interview in qualitative research for material collection and applies both social exclusion theory and social inclusion theory to analyze the interview materials and try to put forward some suggestions and solutions. It is divided into five parts:Chapter One:Introduction. It mainly introduces background, aims and significance of this research and chooses rural old disabled as research object thus finding out the reasons for their living conditions.Chapter Two:Literature review on the rural old disabled research. The author finds there is a few of domestic research on rural old disabled, which is a shortcoming of theory and study thus leaving space for creation of this thesis.Chapter Three:Basic theories and methods of rural old disabled research. It applies both social exclusion theory and social inclusion theory, adopts the method of depth interview in qualitative research and the method of collecting purposive sampling with convenience sampling when in selecting samples.Chapter Four:Concrete analysis of interview materials. As the main part, on the basis of interview analysis, this chapter tries to know the overall situation of the rural old disabled in L town, Xintai city of Shandong province; to learn the conditions in such aspects as economic income and expenditure and basic necessities of life; to analyze the conditions of their spare time arrangement and social interactions; to learn their physical and mental health and inner expectation; to learn the realization of right and analyze the influencing factors. It summarizes the problems in living conditions of rural old disabled and finds out four main problems:First, they have not much economic income and even live on the rural minimum wage and state basic pension; second, there are few social interactions and entertainment activities and there is lack of spiritual life; third, the physical condition of the disabled is not optimistic and they need mental consolation; at last, their civil rights are not performed well and there is legal rejection. As the materials show, the rural female disabled bear more social discrimination and their living conditions are poorer than the rural male disabled. The rural disabled are faced with family exclusion, social and cultural exclusion and legal exclusion even their family members included.Chapter Five:Based on interview material analysis, the paper tries to apply social work knowledge and former research in order to propose solutions and suggestions. To solve those problems the rural disabled faced with, it needs not only care from themselves, family members, relatives and neighbors, but also multi-aspect targeted care including economic support from both the society and country.
