With the rapid development of economy, Information technology relying mainly onnetwork technology and multimedia technology, has been rapidly changing people’s way of lifeand working. School Classrooms began to be widely equipped with multimedia teachingequipment. In turn,modern education technology provides a new teaching method, too.It has become a focus among contemporary educators who study and explore how to use themodern education technology, how to make full use of network teaching platform in teachingand how to help students to structure students’ self-directed learning mode to improve theirinformation literacy and to cultivate their independent thinking and learning ability.This article, aimed at the demand of current senior high school information technology newcurriculum reform, puts forward the self-directed learning mode on senior high schoolinformation technology which is based on Moodle platform. With the support of constructivismin education and psychology, this paper presents the concept and characteristics ofself-directed learning and network teaching platform and develops the application research onself-directed learning mode in high school information technology courses to stimulate students’interests in learning, to improve classroom teaching efficiency, to stick out the principal role ofstudents to cultivate the students’ innovation spirit and to adapt to the teaching requirements ofthe new period.The study mentioned in this paper adopts the method of questionnaire survey andexperimental research. Firstly,a questionnaire survey was carried out among the students ofGrade2011in No.2High School, Qingzhou to analyze the problems existing in the currentinformation technology classroom teaching. Secondly, a teaching design on the self-directedlearning was conducted. Lastly, I carried through a teaching experiment with the application ofmultimedia technology course of "Image Acquisition and Processing" as a case, in which thestudents’ performance and learning effect in classroom teaching was analyzed. The teachingexperiment proved the effectiveness of the self-guided learning mode, which got the recognitionof students and therefore their learning enthusiasm increased. The experiment showed that theself-guided learning mode is emerging, which helps students cultivate their advanced cognition ability and that of exploration and innovation. The mode highlights the students’ principal role,changes the previous mode in which teachers give lessons to only knowledge and skills, andimproves students’ ability of using information technology to solve practical problems.
