In the21st century, the previous teaching outline of P.E has turned to coursestandards all-round. With social development and optimized discipline, the reform ofWushu teaching materials seems imperative. According to the requirement of teachingoutline of P.E. and the situation of Wushu teaching materials, theoretical research ofWushu teaching materials in Middle and Elementary Schools has been collated, thehistory has been discussed, and the experience and problems has been analyzed. Toprovide beneficial reference and improve the quality of construction of teachingmaterials, the research tried to get the tendency of teaching materials by methods ofdocumental data, interviewing, historical analysis and logical analyses.Based on the changing process for the teaching outline of P.E. in Middle andElementary Schools, we divided the history into four periods: Original stage(1949--1976) inflexible content and class hours are dominant. Adjust stage (1977--1988)attack prevention action and national traditional sports including five animals exerciseadds. Development stage (1989--2000) appearance-sprite boxing, taijiquan and wushuethic education is fresh. Deepening reform stage (2001--2011) there isn’t too muchspecific content but only an approximate range. In this stage, more attention has paid tolearning method and study habit. We have obtained many valuable experiences during the reform of Wushu teachingmaterials in Middle and Elementary Schools. For instance, the content of teachingmaterials should be closely linked with social demand and serve it. Reform and P.E.teaching thought should be combined together. Reform could not succeed without thedevelopment of Wushu itself. Continuity should be considered when compiling schooltextbooks.Of course, there are some problems during the reform of Wushu teaching materials, which includes the lack of attention, the absence of cultural educational value, theleading position of Wushu routine, the weakness of textbooks reform. According to the above analysis, we thought that the development tendency of ourcontemporary Wushu school teaching materials is inheriting and developing the existingtextbooks, teaching students to learn one or two Wushu skills for the purpose of lifelongP.E. education, emphasizing the cultural enlightening rule of Wushu to train students toform healthy personality, one teaching guideline with more than one textbooks but moreattention to school textbooks.
